What is C-TPAT?

U.S. Customs has engaged the assistance of the trade community to assist in the war against terrorism. C-TPAT is a joint government-business partnership where companies agree to improve the security in their supply chain in return for "fast lane" border crossings and other important incentives". www.customs.gov

What does C-TPAT Require?

Application Phase
The first phase of C-TPAT is the application phase. In this phase an officer of the company signs an "Agreement to Voluntarily Participate" with US Customs and Border Protection to participate in C-TPAT and to complete a questionnaire within 60 days (30 day extension available) and return it to Customs. Within the 60 days the company assesses their supply chain security and develops a supply chain security improvement program. For companies that prefer to apply for C-TPAT by themselves, the Toy Industry Association in conjunction with Pinkerton has developed an e-Learning course to guide you through the C-TPAT application process. Pinkerton can provide a turnkey C-TPAT application or assist clients by providing advice and council.
